Indian Ginseng

Indian Ginseng, also known as Ashwagandha or Withania Somnifera, is an evergreen shrub that grows in India, the Middle East, and parts of Africa.

While the leaves and fruit have valuable therapeutic properties, the organic Indian ginseng root of the plant is the part most commonly used for treatment in Western herbal medicine remedies because the effects are manifold.

Medical researchers have been studying Indian ginseng for years with great interest and have completed more than 200 studies on the healing benefits of this botanical.

Here are some of the benefits of taking Indian Ginseng:

1. Reduce inflammation.

Indian ginseng increases the activity of immune cells which fight infection and help you to stay healthy. Furthermore, due to its anti-inflammatory properties, Indian ginseng is considered a pain reliever because it acts on the nervous system to prevent pain signals from being sent.

2. Reduce blood sugar levels.

Type 2 Diabetes is one of the most common diseases in Asia. Having a constant high in sugar in your blood is toxic to the body and can lead to long term effects such as blindness, kidney failure, and risk of amputations.

Research has shown that supplementing your diet with Indian ginseng was proven to help reduce fasting blood sugar levels as compared to placebo.

3. Reduce stress and anxiety.

Indian ginseng has been proven to have a calming effect on anxiety symptoms by reducing cortisol levels - also known as the “stress hormone” - in your body by blocking the stress pathway in your brain.

In fact, it studies have suggested that it might be as effective in reducing anxiety as a sedative drug called lorazepam.
